It's the holiday season and the 2012 Argosy Christmas Ships are set to sail beginning tomorrow December 4th.  If you have never experienced this it is a festive sight either on-board or watching from land.  Some of the neighborhoods also organize other fun on the shores of Lake Washington. Mt. Baker has a beach bonfire with cider to keep you warm as you watch the boats go by and volunteers line the streets with votives.

I have attached the link with all of the information how to  book your cruise, dates and locations the boats depart from.  There are also Value nights available with more affordable rates.  Some of the dates are already sold out so hurry.

Here is the link.

Lake Washington Boulevard Speedy Drivers!

As most of you are aware, the speed limit on Lake Washington Blvd. varies depending on which part you are on. In Leschi by Madrona Beach, the speed limit is 25 miles per hour. There are numerous cross walks to watch for and  many pedestrians and cyclists sharing the road with cars.

This morning I was driving home from Madrona K-8  and I took the usual route of Madrona Drive to Lake Washington Blvd. Upon making my right hand turn in my rear view mirror I saw a white Ford SUV speeding toward my car. Directly in front of me was a cyclist who had correctly hand signaled that he wished to turn left into Madrona Beach park. Well... the white Ford accellerated passing me and narrowly missed hitting the cyclist. The white Ford continued on ahead of me weaving in and out of traffic and other cyclists. In my estimation, this driver was easily driving 50 MPH.  I wish I could say that this was unusual or surprising but unfortunately I witness this all too often.

What can we do? Get the license plate and report these incidents to the Seattle PD. I know this is time consuming but maybe if more of us in the neighborhood are vocal about our safety concerns then we may get more patrols in the area and maybe more people will slow down.

In my experience living on Lake Washington Blvd. as the weather gets nicer we see an increase in traffic, more cyclists and pedestrians, out of the area drivers and people driving too fast putting others in danger.

I am so concerned that one day this will result in someone getting critically injured or worse.

Can anyone guess what Seattle neighborhood this house is in? Coffee gift card in the mail to the first person who gets this.

Last week Jeff and I were out previewing homes in a certain neighborhood and we stumbled across this amazing, fun and kooky place in Seattle.  Check out the photo! The home owners appear to celebrate every holiday known to man on a year round basis! I would love to hear back from you if you have seen this home and can tell me what neighborhood it is in.  It would be especially really fun if any of you out there have a story about this home or know what the history is of this home. I wish we could have gone inside.
